Privacy Policy for Klad
Last Updated: March 2, 2026
Klad ("we," "our," or "us") is built from the ground up to protect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Klad mobile application.
The short version: We do not read, store, or have access to your notes.
1. The Core Promise: Your Data is Yours
Klad is a local-first markdown editor that syncs directly to your personal Git repository.
- Your notes, tasks, and files live entirely on your device and inside the Git provider you connect (like GitHub or GitLab).
- We do not host your markdown files on our servers.
- We cannot see, read, edit, or share your content.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
Because of how Klad is built, we explicitly do not collect or have access to:
- The content of your notes or markdown files.
- Your Git repository credentials or authentication tokens (these are stored securely in your device's native keychain).
- Your keystrokes or editing history.
3. Data We Do Collect
To make the app function and manage the Klad Pro lifetime unlock, we use a few standard third-party services. We only collect the bare minimum required:
- Purchase Status: We use RevenueCat to verify if you have purchased Klad Pro. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous ID to your device to track your purchase status.
- Payment Information: All payments are securely processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We never see or store your credit card details, name, or billing address.
- Basic Analytics & Crash Reports: We collect anonymous crash reports to help fix bugs and improve the app. This data contains no personally identifiable information or note content.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following trusted services to operate Klad. You can review their individual privacy policies here:
- Apple: For iOS app distribution and payment processing.
- Google: For Android app distribution and payment processing.
- RevenueCat: For managing in-app purchases and Pro entitlements.
- Your Git Provider: Your notes are subject to the privacy policy of whichever Git service you choose to sync with (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
5. Data Deletion and Your Rights
Because we do not store your personal data or notes on our servers, there is no account to delete on our end.
- To remove your data from Klad, simply delete the app from your device.
- To remove your notes entirely, you must delete the connected repository directly within your Git provider.
6. Changes to this Policy
If we change how Klad handles privacy, we will update this page. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app.
